We are raising funds to compete in the BUKC 24hr

A short summary of your project

We are raising funds to help enter 2 teams for the BUKC 24hr competition this summer. It is the most competitive karting endurance race in the UK. 50 university teams will be racing it out at Teeside Autodrome in the last weekend of June.

Your story

Every year ULMK has been entering teams in the Birtish Universities Karting Championship. Over the last 5 years we have been steadily growing and improving as a team. From struggling to field one team of 4 drivers to now having 3 teams with many more wanting to compete. Year on year moving higher up the Intermediates championship.

This year we have qualified 2nd and 3rd with what looks to be amounting to an even better result than we've ever seen! At the end of every season is this long endurance race. We have only been competing in this endurance race for the last 2 years but we are hoping to accommodate our expansion as a club by entering multiple teams. Of course, this comes at a greater financial cost.

Where will the money go?

All donations will help fund travel, accommodation and kart decorations (such as LED's and custom graphics)  with any excess funds helping subsidise entry fees for the teams. To give an understanding of the costs we expect, a breakdown is as follows:

  • Accommodation: £600
  • Transport: £400
  • Karting decorations and equipment: £180
  • Entry costs of 2 teams for this event: £2800

These costs are for just this one event. We have spent in excess of £8,500 already this year as a club to compete for our university on track. Karting is an expensive sport and any help is hugely appreciated!

  • Throughout the year we hold a social championship at various tracks (mainly Sutton Circuit) near Leicester for every member. We love to invite donors to come and compete alongside us in the remaining rounds this year.
  • If you like the sound of karting but want more then this event allows graduates to compete. we have a limited number of spaces available to join our team and race alongside us helping represent the University. This is purely for the invitation to the team and further costs will inevitably be associated if you wish to take part.
